My Favourite Podcasts - #2 - Eat Sleep Work Repeat
In the last edition, I shared one of my favourite podcasts with you, The Squiggly Careers Podcast from Amazing If, headed up by Sarah Ellis and Helen Tupper.
This week, I’m going to share another of my favourites, Eat Sleep Work Repeat, from Bruce Daisley.
There is a fantastic mix of topics covered by Bruce in this podcast. This is one of those podcasts that I dip in and out of, and I always find something interesting.
I love the diverse group of speakers that Bruce invites, and the conversations are always thought-provoking and insightful.
The one I’m focusing on to get you started with this podcast is Episode 137: Workplace Culture – being nice isn’t enough.
In this episode, Bruce speaks with Zeynep Ton, who is a Professor of Operations Management at MIT Sloan School of Business, and they talk about the impact on organisations’ success when they create a good culture and good jobs. I love the emphasis on it not being about ‘being nice’ but that it’s about putting care and good conditions in place alongside high levels of empowerment and expectations.
I have always been a big believer that you can and should have high expectations of your teams; this sets the bar for performance, but for that performance to then be achieved, you also need great culture and care surrounding that, and this podcast brings this to life.
I hope you find this episode I’ve shared and any of the others you explore as useful as I have.
See you next week, when I’ll be sharing the last of my favourite podcasts.
