My Favourite Podcasts – #3 - Diary of a CEO

Over the last two weeks, I’ve shared two of my favourite podcasts. They were:

Last but not least on my list for this trio of favourites is Diary of a CEO by Steven Bartlett.

I’m fairly new to this podcast, so I haven’t listened to all of the 200+ episodes yet, but of the ones I have listened to, this podcast has easily found a spot on my list of favourites!

It’s hosted by Steven, who is the Founder of the social media marketing agency Social Chain. Steven is focused on inspiring a new generation of entrepreneurs and creators from BAME backgrounds, and in January 2022, he joined the panel on Dragon’s Den.

As you would expect from the title of this podcast, the focus is on speaking to some really interesting people. These are in-depth and deep explorations of topics and the people being interviewed. Sometimes they get emotional, and sometimes I do!

What I like about this podcast is the variety and diversity of guests, but I also find myself learning more about myself from each of these episodes. I’ve also found myself becoming more comfortable with not necessarily agreeing with the perspectives and views of everyone interviewed.

That’s a good thing; it’s good to challenge your thoughts and views and consider the perspective of others, even if that doesn’t mean you agree with them.

Most of the episodes are nearly two hours, but there are also shorter bite-sized “moments”. This podcast has become my go-to when I’m wanting to connect with something more deeply – this is what this podcast gives me.

If you want an idea of where to start, then I’d recommend Episode 170: Gary Neville: From Football Legend to Building a Business Empire.

I’m a massive Man United fan, so the focus of the conversation was a great starting point for me, but the episode looks deeply into who Gary is and the influences on his life. It looks at how he shows up and what’s important to him. That’s what I like about the podcast; you can find all kinds of stories and backgrounds to learn more about.

I hope you find this episode I’ve shared and any of the others you choose to explore as useful as I have.

Next week, we’ll be getting back to the normal blog, where I’ll be highlighting the topic of April’s Purple Sky Thinking for Leaders. The topic for April is how your mindsets and behaviours as a leader directly impact the performance of your team.
